August Networking Luncheon
Speaker: Michael Barker, Principle Project Manager – Cybersecurity, With the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) at the Enterprise Innovation Institute at Georgia Tech.
Dr. Michael Barker is a senior technical executive and academic with over 40 years of experience addressing complex technological challenges across industries such as defense, healthcare, finance, and nuclear energy. He currently supports the Defense Industrial Base with Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) compliance.
Previously, he was the founding Director of the TSYS Cybersecurity Center at Columbus State University, where he created 39 cybersecurity courses, three degree programs, a student-run Security Operations Center, and Georgia’s first cyber range. Before academia, he led C4 Global, an IT and cybersecurity firm he founded. Dr. Barker is also a licensed private investigator, certified firearms instructor, and expert witness in digital forensics.
He contributes to national cybersecurity efforts through roles with the NIST Cybersecurity Steering Committee and Georgia’s CMMC Task Force. He holds a Doctor of Science in IT, an M.S. in Information Security Management, and a B.S. in Nuclear Engineering from Georgia Tech, where he previously worked as a nuclear startup engineer.
His credentials include NSA-recognized cybersecurity certifications. Dr. Barker is also a frequent speaker on cybersecurity, AI, and quantum computing at conferences worldwide.
